944 ABS Problem
Hello,
another Porsche fan overhere. I have an ABS problem on my '87 944 8v. We were doing front ball joints repair and had to discconect the ABS sensor.I made a mystake and started the engine with sensor detached (front right one) to reharge the battery as we used the power for the light to work. Anyway, when we have put everything back together,I started the engine, everything seemed fine but when I started going home, the ABS warning light switched on and the ABS stopped working. So,when I start the car everything's fine but when I get going (wheels spinning) the warning light turns on. Also, one ground wire from the first connector box is disconnected (the first collection box that has ABS sensor and brake pads sensor connected to it),so could this be the problem? Thanks for any advice. Respect, Thorus |
Is it possible that ABS reported error to the ECU when I started the engine without the sensor connected and now needs to be reset?
I tried taking out the battery to reset the ECU but no improvements. Thanks, T. |
disconnecting the ABS sensor was unnecessary. take the sensor off again, clean the contacts, make sure the ground is good, make sure it is actually plugged into the correct socket hole and it should work just fine

Thanks!!
So the ground wire from the collector box is imoprtant for ABS? T. |
all grounds are VERY important
|
naaah, just rip it off and throw it in the trash
just kidding. grounds are important, as they close the loop necessary for a dc circuit to work ;) |
