Need an Idle Speed Valve
im sick and tired of the rpm going all over the place. Im quite sure its the ISV cuz if i smack it the rpms go to normal. Anyone have one for sale. Whats invovled in installing a new one.
|
Im assuming your talking about the cold start valve? If it gets stuck open then your RPMS will rise, Anyway, I think you will need to remove the intake manifold since it is located under there. Other than that its not really hard at all.
|
You have to jumper between pin B and C on the diagnostics plug before you set your idle. Otherwise it just wanders all over the place.
|
SoCal I tired the bypass...it simply doesn't work. I jumpered the B and C like Clarks Garage sugggests but it does diddly squat...is there another way to jumper it.
|
How did you adjust the idle after you jumpered between B and C?
Anyway, since you can hit the idle control valve you know it's under the intake. Some find it necessary to remove the intake to get to the valve. Others have reported they have R&R'd the valve with the intake on. Once you get it off just give it a good soaking with PB Blaster then Carb cleaner. Check all of the vacuum lines before you put it back on. |
And you might want to replace the o-ring on the idle bypass screw.
|
After jumping the B&C terminals...I adjusted the idle using the idle screw on top of the throttle body as depicted in clarks garage. But it doesnt do much as far as helping at all cuz eventually the ****in thing goes back to 2k rpm. I'm ready to drive this thing into a wall.
WTF is the idle bypass screw...is that the same as the idle adjuster screw |
Yeap.
Check the setting for the TPS. Which trottle body is this? |
