light steering - NOT A REPOST
I didnt want to hijack the other thread.
I noticed that when driving, especially fast, saw 90+mph the steering wheel feels very light. The car does NOT loose grip or twitch. In so far as a little finger movement "feels" as if the steering wheel is moving more than say if car was driving slower. This happened on a good strectch of straight highway, good road conditions (Dry !!) ideas |
I'm sure someone will come up with a good scientific explanation but from what I understand its all down to a gyroscopic effect. The faster the wheel spins the easier it becomes to change its direction or something like that!

King pin offset. Yes I know there are no king pins in the front. Draw a line down the strut to the ground. This is offset from where the wheel actually pivots.

so this is ok ?

Supposed to get easier to steer at highter speeds -- as long as the suspension is tight. Check the back lash in the steering link. It's between the steering column and the rack. Has two U-joints.
