Power steering Hoses

Hey guys,

I have developed a problem with the hoses for the power steering in my car and I am going to replace them. The hoses in question run from the steering fluid reservoir to the power steering pump (Or should that read power asssisted steering pump?).

Anyway, the price for the two hoses in question is approx €250 which equates to approx $330! Now for approx 6 feet of hose, that is a helluva lot! I have browsed the net and seen power steering hosing being sold for $10 a foot. I think I'll purchase myself some of that but before I do so could somebody tell me the size of the hoses that I require. From my understanding of things, one hose is a feed to the pump which the other acts as a return.

Thanks,

Colm

The updated power steering feed hose 944.347.445.05 is only around 30 USD from the dealer in the States. You could make this up yourself, the only problem being it is a formed hose with two different diameter ends. So you would have to get two sections of replacement hose and connect them with a step down barbed hose connector. I'd say just get the Porsche one for $30 rather than screw around and introduce 2 more spots for the thing to leak.

Can't help on the return line as I've never had to replace.
