It runs, finally!

The 924S is on the road! Now I need a few items for it...

1) working window switches
2) decent seats, leather would be nice
3) oem socks
4) dash pad without cracks would be nice

If none of the window switches work replace the relay.

Oem socks! Dang! Thats what I've been missing! What's the part number for a pair? My feet are size 12.

The relay is fine. I got 2 of the switches working (the only one that is still inoperable is the passenger remote switch on the drivers door, I think it's a wiring issue), they needed their contacts cleaned.
I am having an issue with my elec. mirrors not working, any ideas?

SoCal Driver 05-11-2005 10:27 PM

Not certain if the 924S uses the newer mirror drives or the early. The early are a PITA. The later ones are a much better design but have a tendency to break a 25 cent drive link. You have to buy a $300 drive to replace it. Well not really. The later mirrors drive is used in other cars too. Seen it in a later Ford Mustang.

As to the early drives; I've had to move them back and forth by hand a bit to loosen them. Also check the switch in the console. This too has a tendency to crorrode the contacts.

Thanks SoCal. It was the console switch, dirty contacts again.

I just finished doing the 3/8" bolt brass tubing shifter fix, I added a couple of nylon washers to keep everything moving freely. I also cut off 1 1/2" of the shift lever to lower the sift knob and shorten the throw. Makes a huge difference in driving comfort. It also makes getting to the radio controls easier.

SoCal Driver 05-13-2005 02:01 PM

I'd shorten mine but the syncros are bad enough as it is. Those nylon washers will wear out quickly. Get a conical or wavy thin washer and some heavier flat washers. put the spring washer between the shifter arm and one of the flats on the inside and just one of the flats on the outside.

Where did you get the brass bolt from?

pokey 05-13-2005 02:14 PM

No brass bolt. There should have been a comma between "bolt" and "brass tubing." The bolt is stainless. Just stuff I had laying around from working on boats. I do get bronze bolts from time to time, at GSA hardware on PCH in West Long Beach.

Did you tap the arm or use double jam nuts?

pokey 05-13-2005 04:23 PM

I went with the double jam nut method. I'm going to replace the nylon washers with brass backed up with stainless washers.

SoCal Driver 05-13-2005 05:13 PM

Trust me. Get a spring washer.

pokey 05-13-2005 07:56 PM

Will do. Thanks for the help.
