Heater fan won't turn off.
I have looked a few times for the source of this problem. My wife's 84' 944 runs great, everything works well. But sometimes when you turn the car off, the main radiator fan will kick back on along with the heater fan. You can also turn the AC on. Basically, everything that shares that same power circut. Easy right? Not really, I replaced the ign switch, but it wasn't bad. Replaced the heater fan switch (just for fun), nope. I have pulled the two fuse blocks down and looked for bared wires that might be shorting causing power to jump to another wire. Everything looks good so far.
Is there a relay for the ign? Each of these components has it's own relay, but is there one that is some sort of a main power relay off the ign switch? Maybe that is on the fritz? Oh, when the car cools down, the radiator fan turns off of course, but the heater fan stays on. Even position "0" still runs the fan at a very low speed. Last night was the first time it stayed on all night.

There is a resistor underneath the "squirel cage" that sheilds the heater fan in the engine bay. It's in the middle. You may have corrosion on the contacts, or it may be bad.

Are you sure it's not the temprature slide switch itself? There is a slide-cable connected to the temp slide lever and a clamp on the outer shielding on that cable. The clamp is a plastic piece that eventually breaks and lets the outer shielding move with the cable inside it and the temprature no longer works. The clip is right behind the switch for the fan speed, so you have to take apart a little bit of the dash to get to it.

I will check both items mentioned. I am not sure it will be either of them though since the fan works like it should. I think this problem is more global to the car or farther up the line well before the heater switch or rad fan ect. Somewhere, the power is shorting and not turning off. Oh man, if it is a shorted wire, god help me.
