Hi,
The fuel damper seems wired off (red circle). There is a vaccum hose connected (blue circle). When I remove it, few gasline come out. It doesn't supposed to have fuel comes out, right? The idle is rush (800-1100 rpm) I guess it is caused by failed damper. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator. Second question, I couldn't find the parts # of damper because it is marked at the bottom. I couldn't see it until I remove it. Anybody who knows the parts #? Third, if I replace the damper, do I have to pull out the whole fuel rail because one side of damper connected to the fuel line? Also, somebody told me if fuel rail is removed, I have to replace the seal (O-ring) of injectors too. Is it a difficult job? Thanks!! Kay

If fuel came out of the vacuum connection when you pulled the hose off, the diaphragm is shot. You need to replace it.
I have not changed mine yet, but it looks like it is threaded to the fuel rail (maybe a 1/4" pipe thread) plus the top bracket bolt. It might be easier if the fuel rail is off the engine but maybe not necessary.

Hi,
Thanks for reply. Do you know the part# of fuel damper? It seems not a big job to remove the fuel rail. There are 3 screws on front, middle and back side of the rail. However, when I pull out the fuel rail, the injectors will come off too?? Thanks. Kay

Yes the injectors are clipped to the rail. Take them off with the rail. Use two small flat tipped screw drivers to remove the electrical connectors to the injectors. Gentally pry the wire retaining clips open and pull off the connectors. Don't bent the clips.
When you remove the fuel damper do not use the fuel rail to hold onto. Use the mounting "nuts". You will crack the fuel rail if you hold on to it and not the mountings. Un clip the injectors and replace the o-rings. Both the top and bottom o-rings. A bit of grease will help put the injectors back into the fuel rail and the injectors into the head. I also suggest replacing the rubber part of the high pressure hose that comes off of the steel line from the fuel pump and connects to the fuel damper. These age and become brittle. This hose should be swedged on and not clamped. Use the existing end fittings.
