swaybar droplink upgrades
In my daily eBay travels I came across this auction, for upgraded swaybar droplinks. The only way I would buy such a thing is if I upgraded my rear sways, but I was wondering if anybody knows whether or not the upgrade would be worth it.

I bought some of those when he offered them the first time on Rennlist. From what I always understood about adjustable droplinks is that they are intended to take preload out of the sways, but the way some of the folks on the list where using them was to preload the sways so they come into effect more quickly. In any case, they are a tiny bit longer eye-to-eye than the stock dogbone links so I think they actually introduced a bit of preload when I installed mine. My alignment is so bad right now though that it is hard to tell if they did anything.

Wonder how long that rod end will last on the road. Lots of grime and water.

They are aircraft grade HEIM Bearings. One female and one male with an AN check nut. You can get them through most aircraft suppliers. Whether or not the ones he is selling are metric, I don't know. Or even if they need to be metric. They'll last for a while, but you should service them oftem with some lithium lube or something to keep them from seizing up. Use these all the time for the aircraft we build at our shop.

You dive aircraft on dirt back roads with the oil from the engine and other cars sticking all over them? Do you then drive through inches and inches of rain forcing the grit and oil into the spherical bearing surface? How many hours between replacement on an aircraft?
There is a reason for the cast steel and welded link and rubber bushings on cars. I think these links are great for a track car where everything is checked the Monday after the race.

Have used same rod ends for panhards on bagged minitrucks. They squeak after a while because spherical bearing dry out.
You have a valid point SoCal.

Used then for years and years in automation linkages. Have to get the ones with the grease zerts. Then hope the maintanence crew follows the schedule.
