Dang water pump, get a rebuilt one or a new one?

Well turns out now my water has gone bye-bye (I'm really bad with good byes too!). My question is did ya'll go with a rebuilt pump or a new pump. I'm trying to minimize cost on this project as much as possible (as I don't have much left in my car fund after the last few break downs in the past 2 months). Will I be expecting a lower life expectency from getting a rebuilt pump or will it still be reliable? According to my dad the pump has been replaced once before and updated to the later version with the proper block off plate, etc. Obviously when they're in there they're probably going to do the roller and ill probably have the belts replaced as well even though its only been a year. Any idea on ballpark what I'm looking at to have a shop do it?

get a good rebuilt pump, they last just as long.

To have a shop do all that you describe, $800 - $1000

Any particular brand of water pump or company to go through to get a rebuilt pump? How long of a job is it?

Call pelican. And, be specific on which you want. Do a search and find my waterpump thread... to sum it up, I'm an idiot. I hope my saga helps someone else

Read the thread bryan, so thanks for the heads up. I'm not going to be able to do this myself which sucks (I'm a very hands on guy when it comes to my cars, plus I'm a poor college kid so it just works out, lol). I'm trying to find the paper work on the last time the pump was replaced so I know what to replace it with and if I need the new block off kit.
