early/late 85 Koni question

I am looking to put Koni's all around on my 85 944. My car has some early (dash, front a-arms) and some late (DME, injectors, engine code) characteristics. Can anyone tell me exactly what I would be looking for underneath the rear suspension that would make the difference between early and late 85. I would like to use the later twin tube shocks if at all possible. Koni has 09/84 as the cutoff date which is earlier than the 01/85 that seems to be commonly used as a early/late cutoff.

Help Please
Thanks
Graham

85/5 onwards cars have aluminum trailing arms. The bolt size is different so steel arm shocks won't fit.

What is the VIN of your car? if it has the early dash then it's a steel front and rear trailing arm car.

OK I don't have the VIN on me but I know the front arms are steel. I will double check the rears, but I believe they are steel as well.

Thanks
Graham

Early struts will have a spanner type where the strut rod enters the housing so you can replace the strut inserts. Late struts are sealed, but can be "converted" to use Koni adjustable inserts.

Early rear swing arms are steel, late swing arms are aluminum. Early and late cars use different rear shocks.
