Q about R134a AC conversion kit install
Hi,
I am completing the install of the R134a conversion kit BUT, the new compressor's bracket for the extension rod is located further than the OEM, and unfortunately, I couldn't get the belt tightened before the rod runs out of length.... At first I thought I got an extra long belt by mistake but, no, it's about the same as the old one. Did anybody have this problem before? And how did you resolve it? |
Where did you get this "kit"? I'd be bugging the hell out of the vendor.

OK, seems like it's a generic kit, as I had the same problem
NAPA sells a belt that is just a tiny bit smaller, but not too small. They also sell the 90% fitting as well. The problem being that you can't get to the fitting etc .... when I did mine, there was NO R-12 left at all, so I just changed fittings and belt, and away I go ..... no issues with the oil cuz everything was dried up, the only thing is that the o-rings may go soon, but it's been close to a year and still OK, and I live in Cali.... always hot.
