Imitation performance chips

Hey seen a lot of performance chips on ebay lately with no manufacturer listed for $24. What's that all about. Checked the guys other sale stuff and he has chips for almost every car. Out of interest I asked the question, who made the chip. He replied it was an Autoauthority copy. Seems kind of unethical to me. There seems to be a lot of guys out of California doing the same thing. Doesn't Ebay give a dam about illegal products being sold?

They care about their commission. That's it. Read their "agreements". They assume no responsibility for anything done on their website.

Evilbay... ethical?

Bah ha ha ha....

money makes the world go around... the world go around... the world go around...

Don't get me wrong I have bought stuff for cheap off ebait (mostly camera stuff). For the most part people selling there are good people however as is true with most of the Internet you have to be aware so you don't get sucked into a bad deal.

If you want the real deal on chips check out FRWilks.

just remember, you get what you pay for

I just purchased a chip from FR Wilk. I'm anxious for it to arrive at my door! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/boldblue.gif I've heard so many good things about it! As far as the chips on ebay. I believe they could be copied programs of Weltmeister, Autothority and even FR Wilk's software. Still shady....

I feel bad for the originators and the fact that their ingeniousness is being abused by people that copycat to make a few bucks.

Anyways, hey one quick question to those with Wilk chips, how long did it take to receive yours; I take it that each chip has to be specifically programmed in an accurate way to comply with any and all engine/exhaust modifications to the car. And how long did the install take? I'm still in the process of gathering info from installers here so I do this right and not kill my car's brain when I do a labotomy

On the other hand can't you goto court for this? I'm sure you can file a suit against the copiers of these chips

Hey stig..

Unfortunately you would have to supeona the code from the chip to make a case ... very pita to do. Hopefully someone researches the seler and comes across threads like this that alert them to their practices and most honest people would rather pay for the proper product from the peroson or company that originally made it ...... Now where's that torrent link :)
