steering wheel?
Hi again,
thinking of sprucing up my steering wheel... it's starting to look a little dry and shaggy. Who sells a good leather kit for the 4-spoke wheel? How hard is this to do? Or should I just buy a Momo wheel? (I already have a hub adapter laying around somewhere...) thanks, nate

Buy a momo, or Nardi wheel. You can get covers from many places and do it yourself. Not that hard, so I'm told. I don't have THAT kinda patience for that stuff. Agla cover is what I bought. After 3-4 months of screwing with 'em, including sending the wheel back to them a second time to "do it right", and finally getting it back from them, I thought it looked pretty good, but will never send it out to have them do one again. The funny thing is, is they told me, it was their "concourse" cover/install. Hah........not impressed. Leather IS thinner, and will twist on the wheel after time. For that kinda money, spend a little more, and get a Momo, or Nardi. IMHO.......of course.

You can pick up a useable Grant for $50 at any auto parts store. They probably won't have the hub adapter for your car.
If you want a MOMO or other high-quality wheel, do a search in this forum and you'll find some great suggestions for places to buy online. Also, I think Pelican carries the 930S wheel.

thanks for the replies, all... I'm leaning towards recovering the 4-spoke primarily for cost reasons, but I don't know who is the best place to buy the kit from (Pelican doesn't seem to carry it.) I could possibly borrow a Monte Carlo to test fit but I'm worried about the smaller diameter possibly obscuring some of the gauges - despite Porsche's usually good ergonomics even with the stock steering wheel in a comfortable driving position the outermost gauges are partially obscured, as well as the headlight switch, fog light switch and the rheostat for the delay wipers. (I know where they are, now, but it's somewhat out of character...)

Nate,
If re-covering send it out to AGLA and ask for a loaner wheel. Although as was mentioned, the leather is thinner--I havene't had any problems with twisitng/etc. in over 2+ years, but 1 stitch isn't fully closed--minor annoyance.

dcauto.com... huh! I remember buying 914 parts from that guy, what, maybe 10 years ago. I remember him as a good guy to deal with so I'll definitely drop him a line. thanks for the memory jog.
