Well, define "know".

If your gauge of someone "knowing" 944s is limited to your sole, pathetic, example, then I would venture to guess there are at least 10 - 15 individuals here (myself included) that could do what you are asking.

Though asking in such a condescending manner isn't likely to get you too many volunteers.

Not fair. I am a very experienced wrench. Having been an aircraft mechanic on F-15's, C-130's and now working for the government on the civil service side as a tech(i could explain but it would take 3 pages). Porsche's, this being my 3rd are just over enginerred/ simple machines.

I have no clue... but I act as if I do. I was considering doing a 968 swap in my 83 but then I took on the 944S project with the V-8 swap. By comparison the 968 swap looks soooo much easier.

Just do it.

Excellence magazine did an article on this conversion however I don't remember if it was a 968 or a S2 engine.

And you would probably have better luck posting a thread titled with a question about Porsche engine swaps FWIW.

^^ he's right... 186hp in the wheels is different that 186 HP on the wheels. You see, "IN" the wheels could be anywhere in the wheel and the loss depends on the distance from there to the outside edge of the wheel... the correct equation for this differnence is... n/m...

Have never done anything as extensive as an engine swap. Also dont really know the major details about swapping a 968 engine, however it was done by atleast two people i know of on the Rennlist forums. I figure with a few searches between Pelican and Rennlist i could compile a complete list of whats needed and get an idea of the problem areas.

It's been done but as with most things it's far from a "drop-in" procedure - there are things that require special attention and some creativity including the electronics (harnesses are different), the air box (location is different and won't fit right), etc. The engine will physically mount up correctly and looks GREAT in a "regular" 944 (I've seen/driven one that was in an early 944)

Send a PM to josephsc - it's his car. Very nice installation and the 3.0L looks great in that engine bay.
