A/C question

Hey Guy's -

I know that this horse has been beat to death, I know because I just did a search and read about 50 post's on the topic but still am not sure after reading them all , so here goes.

The car : 1986 944 Turbo (951)

The issue : Which is the low side port ???

The info : I have located two ports capped with plastic covers, so here goes.

Line 1 is located adjacent to the drivers side shock tower and the cap is pointing straight up and has ridges on it. This line is running right next to a similar line, the line with the valve on it is the larger of the two lines.

Line 2 is located down low , you have to look between the drivers side headlight and the radiator to see it, it is positioned on it's side connected to a replacement drier which has the window (the window is showing bubbles) this line is attached to the port marked " IN " on the drier, this is not a factory drier as the PO had it replaced at some point in the car's life, this one is capped with a black cap which has big lug's on it for grip not the small ridges like the cap listed above.

The question : So which is the low or recharge side line ???

The low side line has a bigger diameter aluminum tubing and hoses from the firewall to the compressor if that helps.

There are a few potential points for those ports and they seem to change from year to year.

The larger diameter line is the low pressure line, and in most that I've seen it does run over the driver's side front shock tower.

Some did, some didn't. My '86 does. But you'll note that he clearly said that his doesn't. It all just depends on when it was manufactured. Porsche is (in)famous for making changes whenever they feel like it and not fully documenting every change.
