Plug wires?

Anyone try those Nology spark plug wires? What do you think of them? How about the Iridium plugs?

Thanks

i used nology wires on my '83, no complaints. for plugs, i'd stick with the copper supers.

I've never used them....does anyone know if they are worth the extra price? I need a new set on the 87 and I'm not sure whether to buy stock or the Nology.

All hype and no gain. They're rice-boy plug wires.

Go with Magnecor wires. Magnecor has been around forever and is incredibly well-respected within the automotive community.

Nology is popular with the same crowd of people who think that PIAA produces high-quality lights. In other words, people with more dollars than sense.

I had some OEM plug wires, 6 months give or take a few months i Upgraded to Nology hot wires. My engine ran a little smoother and acceleration increased some ( less lag n throttle response). Few Months After that i put in the Nology Profire coil. Which made the car respond better less lag than before and the car accelerates much better then before, Feels like its burning the fuel much better. Gas mileage improved alil 20-50 miles more per tank depends on how you drive.

Plugs I use Bosch Platinums, Previous owner was using NGK and A small piece of porcelain was missing ( where'd the piece go? Vapoorized)

Thing here is that if the wires were OEM, they were likely the wires that came on the car from the factory. Replacing them with just about _anything_ would have made the improvement you describe. While the plugs were certainly replaced at some point, it's worth noting that the life expectancy of copper plugs is only 20,000-30,000 miles, which means, again, that they were probably well beyond the proper replacement interval. Again, any new plug would have given an improvement.

I'd suggest Magnecor wires. I have seen them reccomended by many for our cars. A fellow Pelican got a set and noticed a big difference compaired to stock style. Thet're also cheaper then Nologys. I personally has a set of Jacob's on mine and dont have any complaints(when it comes time for replacing, magnacore it will be).

As far as plugs, copper copper copper.

Edit: Yes nology wires are rice wires.. a friend who has a turbo'd civic hatch back swears by them...lol

If they come equiped with a big sticker, the sticker must also be installed to get max performance.

Aaron has the correct answer. I would add that thicker insulation would help too. The wires on the 944's lay too close to the injectors and will arc/short to ground through them. Not good. Even seen additiional slip on insulation on stock wires in this area.

Most all spark plug wires use a 16 gage wire core. Stock is stranded and twisted. Magnacore looks like a spiral wound guitar string -- highly flexable.

I have the Jacobs that I bought from Summit Racing at half the price of the Magnecors. I don't see why you would switch if you don't have any complaints but its your money ???

I agree.............and might add...............the same crowd who is willing to fight to the death over a K&N filter spec, har har, and then install one behind the radiator where it will suck in heat.....oh Lord, there's a sucker born every minute. Save your money, the stock wire got world-wide rave reviews when it was hooked up to the rest of the (stock) 944. Somehow I don't think Porsche left any horsepower on the workbench, when it comes to plug wires. Could it be their what (17 ??) wins at LeMans that taught em about plug wires?

I understand you can go faster with the red color under the hood, eh? Anyone able to confirm this, lol

Boy-racer-wires, sheesh
