Clicking noise, left side of transaxle
I'm trying to revive my 1984 944. When last driven it was OK until I went across at an angle, to protect the front air dam, a road that sloped upward from the main road. My speed was 2-3 mph. Immediately after doing this I got a clicking noise in the transaxle area. I replaced the axles and CV's with new units. I don't understand this as it wasn't an abuse situation. On axle rotation the nose seems to be close to the housing section on the left hand side. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

If the sound is in time with the wheel rotation it could be most anything from the transmission out. Just need to rack it and spin the wheel by hand. The noise could also be on the other side too.

I appreciate your reply. I'll try that. It just seems to be an odd situation to me. I've been involved with race cars most of my life and have always fixed my own transportation. This was and is a real puzzle to me, having a problerm occur in such an innocent way.
