ECU open and on my desk.
Hello Everyone,
After posting on another thread about having to tap on my ECU while turning the key to get my car started, I have decided to see what's going on in my ECU. My brother may be doing the soldering since he did quite a bit at ITT. I have taken it out and I have opened it up as per the clarks-garage manual. Everything appears to be okay inside. Obviously I am looking for a broken connection somewhere. Any common problem areas on this board? Where do you guys recommend looking? Thanks everyone.

PS - What are these translucent amber crystals in a couple of areas?

You may want to buy the spare before you work on that one just in case something goes wrong. If you look on ebay, there are constantly some on there. Here is a list of other places to try....
1985 Engine Computer Porsche 944 H1559 $200 EurAsian Foreign Auto Parts USA-CO(Englewood) 1-800-944-3215 1987 Engine Computer Porsche 924 -CHECK # CC552 $150 All Foreign Auto Parts USA-NV(Las-Vegas) 1-800-797-4607 1987 Engine Computer Porsche 924 RED,2.5,MT,RWD P60187 $74 Premium Auto Parts, Inc. USA-UT(Salt-Lake City) 1-866-582-2622 I may have just been forming water inside through condensation because of a seal and the water was shorting something out. I would just seal it up real well and try it again. Still might get a backup though.

Yes, I have MAJOR condensation in my car lately. It's insane.
All of the windows are fogged when everyone elses aren't. In the morning I have to scrape frost off of the inside of my car as well as the outside! Maybe i will seal it up with silicone sealant because I don't see any loose connections in here. I will keep looking though.

Also check out why you have condensation inside your car. Is it seals on the doors and hatches or is it water draining in from the battery tray. If it's from the tray, find it and fix the problem (there are posts here on how to do that) so it doesn't get worse. Actually, whereever it's from...fix it...but if it's in your right floor, then check the battery tray for sure so you don't ruin your carpet, computer or anything else. An ounce of prevention is still worth a pound of cure. OMG, I'm starting to recite my grandmother....

It's not the battery tray. I have made sure of that. No water is getting back into the computer area. I have a leak in the back of my hatch where water is dripping down into my taillights. This is most likely it. The problem is that I can't figure out how it's getting in. (Yes, I've checked the spoiler drain holes). It's dripping just above the left hatch hole.
Also, my sunroof was leaking for a couple of days but I recently fixed it. What a pain.

There are a couple of small holes on the front of my ECU cover. They are located in the upper left and upper right sides of the case.
Should I plug these up?

I'm guessing not but I don't know for sure. Those are probably there for ventilation. I would start working on the condensation problem and leave those as the factory intended.
Where is the hatch leaking? Until you get it fixed, you may want to get a car cover to keep the moisture out.

I was going to do this except I can't get the taillights off. Someone had glued them on with whatever sealant they used.
