How do i remove the head, turbo, dme and nose from 931
Hey yall. I got a 931 tubo that got hit so its going away.
I wanna get the head, turbo, dme and nose off of it. I looked at the garage shop manual but it counldt help me too much, i have a strange model. 1. The nose - it seems liek its tack weleded on and the only way I can get it off would be to cut it off. There are no screws liek there would be on a 951. 2. the head - it may be simple but I'm not sure. i got the valve cover off but thats about it 3. dme, whre is that lil bugger? 4. the turbo - I'm under the car and i see it. i beleive th conrtol arm is in the way. I coudl unbold the exhaust but there it a bot on top of it that i KNOW i will not be able to get to. Or possibly would it just be easier to take the head off and then get to the turbo? |
you are going to have to drill the tack welds on the nose.
the manual will tell you how to get the head off. doesn't really have a DME. its a CES, or something like that. i don't know where it lives. turbo: i'd drop the exhaust and undo the header for starters. |
sorry i dotn have a manual to tell me how to remove the head

its $14. it'll save you tons of time.

What year 931?
The brain boxes are easy to get to. One is mounted on the wheel well topside behind the drivers side headlight (CDI?). The O2 brain is under the dash, drivers side. Both are easy to get to. See pic of what they look like. Are you selling the turbo charger? If so, what condition is it in? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1143649773.jpg |
Ur not telling me anything. $14 for what, haynes, chiltons, shop manual? what am i looking for?
and i will check it for shaft play once (if) i get it off. |

Go to 924board.org and ask there. That's the best place for this car. I've got one, and getting the head off is PITA, mostly because of the way the exhaust header and turbo are designed. Haynes has a chapter devoted to the turbo but not the whole story. HTH

Already answered on rennlist - but you should just pull the engine completely. Much easier. BTDT. Don't forget the DITC controller under the HVAC box on the center tunnel - access from driver's side. Pics above are the Lambda (mixture) control and the ignition box.

You sound like you don't have much experiece with the 931 mechanically, but yet you know how to wrench on a car....
Did you just get the car or something? |
