944 Taillight Housing

I seem to keep replacing bulbs on my taillight fixture, so i am thinking that by replacing the whole housing, this will solve my burno out problem.
any suggestions?
anyone have one for sale?
thanks

how many bulbs have you replaced, and what is the timeframe? Is it always the same bulb that you are replacing?

tail Light

The tail light assembly is a pretty straight forward part and not much can really go wrong that would require it's replacement short of it being hit in an accident. Check both left & right assemblies. If anything looks different from one to the other than maybe you do have an assembly issue. I would clean the contacts; both on the fixture and the bulb. You may not be burning out the bulbs but rather they may not have a good contact. Use a light grade sand paper or emery cloth, not steel wool. Failing all the above I might go buy another bulb from a different parts supplier and see if that makes a difference. Remember the gorilla in the airport ads with the suite cases? I swear, some of the counter guys in some of these parts places are 1st cousins!
After that I would run a check for shorts.
Good luck!

I had the same problem with my taillight bulbs. Found out that it was from water getting in through the hatch and getting into the taillight assembly. Make sure that there is no water in there.

tail light

Don't know why I didn't think of the water issue. Never had the lighting problem, but I did with my wiper motor. Finally got it dried out after a couple of weeks and it has been working fine ever since. Just goes to show you, always try the simple stuff first!

could be that..
could also be cheap bulbs..

in my bedroom, i've been buying dollar store light bulbs for my light and have to replace it once every 3 weeks or so... wheras regular "quality" bulbs last months...
