Lucked Out

My friend who works for Bosch called me today. He's sending me a package on Monday.

Apparently a burned-out 951 landed in his shop (he builds show cars for the Blaupunkt division). In the trunk was an un-opened, brand new oxygen sensor, distributor cap, rotor, and about a dozen other goodies...

The ironic thing is that I just bought most of this stuff from Pelican and from an un-named competitor that is quietly killing its Porsche parts business...

I'd give them back, or at least make an attempt to.

If I get your drift...

The car was purchased for a restoration. It's going to be turned into a show car without an engine. The parts would otherwise be going in the trash.

What's your buddy's name? I work for Bosch too, down the street... we'll have to put an eye on him, make sure they do that car justice...

I found out that the car has been deemed beyond repair. It's going to be scrapped. Too bad.

Thanks for the info - I'll have to get in touch, if they're scrapping it, see if we can find a good home for it...

Is the 951 burned worse than the old 'S'?

I don't know. I haven't seen it. It wasn't my friend's decision either.

Well, I got the package. All parts are Bosch brand, all parts are for a 951. It contains:

-4 Bosch Super Spark Plugs
-4 Bosch Platinum Spark Plugs
-4 Bosh fuel injectors
-1 Fuel Pressure Dampener
-1 Air filter
-1 Distributor Cap
-1 Distributor Rotor
-1 Idler Stabilizer
-1 Oxygen Sensor
-1 Unidentified Part. It looks like some sort of sensor. It has a plug at one end that looks like the same kind of plug that a fuel injector has. The othe end is threaded and has an inch-long circular brass part that extends past the threading. It has a Bosch part number 0 280 130 026.

Need an air filter?

I don't have the original filter housing, so it won't do a thing for me.

PM me your address. Seriously.

lol. thanks a bunch, but I'm covered on that one. there's probably someone closer to you that needs it more than me. now the fuel injectors on the other hand... mine are at the "random leaking" stage

I think I'm going to hold on to the injectors for the moment. I still haven't taken out my car for the year so I need to check everything over.

Eldorado, that's the part!
