How to reach allen bolt on spped sensor

While my gas tank is gettting fixed, I'm starting on the clutch replacement. I'm up to the point of removing the reference mark sensor and the speed sensor from the top of the clutch housing. I can't seem to reach the rear allen bolt. Factory manual says to remove these before lowering the housing. They are on wires, so it seems I could continue and remove them when I can lower the housing a little bit. How's everyone else getting to these?

I replaced those sensors a while back with a lot of help from Danno, and basically I just spent a lot of time sticking a multi jointed wrench in there a lot of different ways and turning it a little bit. A real pain in the ass.

I don't know about lowering first but I definitely didn't have any fun getting those out of there.

I did mine like Max. PITA for sure. But you should be able to lower it and then take it out. Just make sure there is enough slack in the wire to accomodate that.

Thanks everyone - Finally got them out using a 1/4" drive and universal joint. Enjoyed finding that they are then inserted into the housing about 1 1/2". Now I'm off on another trip to Sears to get a 3/8" flex head ratchet. I shouldn't complain at least I have an excuse to buy a couple more tools
