No, you need a gasoline- liquid oxygen intercooler for optimum results

Cross-drilling the tank takes enough weight out of the rear of the car that the rear calipers are no longer needed, further reducing weight.

The parking brake drums alone provide sufficient braking with this setup.

rammstein 05-26-2006 08:11 AM

Reducing weight has been a big objective in our plans. I saw a sweet project where the big, heavy flip-up headlights can be replaced with the headlights from a Pontiac Sunfire. Another bonus is that I can get some hyper-white bulbs and get near-HID quality from them.

We were also going to do a single wiper setup like on his prelude. He thinks we'll save about 10lbs this way, not to mention it will look super cool and racy.

What I cannot believe is how they put 15 inch wheels on here! This is what sports cars did in the 80's? Obviously, I am sure most of you have tossed these worthless wheels and put some serious rubber on there to get modern grip. I am getting 19 inch American Racing wheels (chrome of course) from Sears with some Kumhos on there, and then I should be ready for AutoX.

I am pretty happy with the body. I think the only thing I'l add is some racing-style hook thingies on the hood. I also am gonna get a pack of Porsche decals to spice up the outside. So far I can't find Altezzas, but maybe I'll fabricate something. My boy Marty knows how to work fiberglass. Marty is also going to help me with a respray to cover up the rust.

This is definitely going to happen. Your ideas on the fuel tank, while obviously meant as a poke at me, aren't necessarily bad. I am going to reroute the A/C system to blow onto the fuel lines, to make for a denser charge. I'l do this last so we can do a before and after on the dyno.

uh.. smaller rims with more tire is typically the racer's choice. Go watch some dedicated race cars run and see if they're running low profile rubber... I typically see 13" rims with racing tires at the track.

ok Jeff, reread the whole thread and then think again

speedracing944 05-28-2006 03:25 PM

I like the cross drilled tank idea. I will have to try that next. I did buy and install some of those cross drill SS brake lines because I was boiling my brake fluid. I still need to try them out.

Speedy:)

Dantilla 05-28-2006 03:59 PM

I boiled my brake fluid once, but my wife got mad at the mess I made on her stove.

Never again.

moegreen 05-29-2006 07:48 AM

just install one of these and save time and money...

Turbo a na is really simple;
Find a 951, a really nice one so you dont have to spend a lot of money fixin stuff. Cut it in two just behind the dash board. weld this piece to your 944. Then find a 951, a really nice one, cut it in two just behind the seats. Weld this to your 944. Then weld all the left over parts together and sell them on fleebay to make a lot of money!!

moegreen 05-29-2006 07:22 PM

amen to Usmellgass2? post !~
Sorry about my previous bad link... but if I can figure out how to post it properly... yer gonna get a hoot.

Eldorado 05-29-2006 09:15 PM

I think this is what you were trying to link to...

a buddy of mine, when we were working on my 944 one afternoon, put one of those in my exhaust pipe without me seeing him... i wondered what the hell it was..

basically, they're just one of those whistles you can buy to put on your car that keep deer and whatnot away.. very highpitched and annoying.

rammstein 05-30-2006 05:06 PM

So now my friend is telling me that maybe we should just run NOS. I have never been a fan until I rode in his sweet blazer. Yeah, I know, a blazer is lame. But this one was dropped and had slicks on it and a viper alarm and NOS. I bet against a 951 it could beat it at autoX. It has 6 cylinders, which helps. He also chipped it, which added torque. He swears by his intake. It looks ghetto, but its just a pipe flaring into the front grille. He doesn't use an air filter at all, and instead uses super thick oil to catch debris. He doesn't even need the fake blow off valve thingy, he just lets out some NOS and its all WHOOOOSH.

What are your thoughts?

Dantilla 05-31-2006 08:58 AM

Does the owner of the Viper know his alarm is missing?

fast924S 05-31-2006 05:03 PM

Dude, You got the NOS thing alll Wrong, Go down to Sears and buy a Leaf blower and hook it into your intake and make big HPP man its way better then those Electric SC.

Wonder what the A/F ratio was LOL

rammstein 05-31-2006 06:26 PM

SNAP!!!! Thats what I am getting at- these engineers at Porsche are so stuck in the past they don't even realize how much more power they could be making! :D

Dantilla 05-31-2006 08:37 PM

Geez, guys. Just duct your air conditioning vents to your intake and crank it up to high.

Forced, and cooled, induction air.

The only cost is enough cheap flexible dryer vent hose to run from the dash to the intake. Pretty cheap horsepower.
