Spare Parts

Where do all these new spare parts come from for cars that are 15+ years old?

Just about the only thing I can't find available for a 944 from porsche are the cargo curtain end caps.

Is there a porsche warehouse somewhere with 'new' old stock from when these cars were produced? Does porsche schedule a run of 500 a/c fan knobs every 2 years? Anyone have insight into how this works? Curious topic for me...

People who realize that these cars are worth much more $$ taken apart then they are put together.

I think he was asking about "new" parts. Ok, so actually I have no idea but I'm guessing that the companies that produced the original parts already have the tooling set up to keep producing them, so they continue until it's no longer profitable but it's usually on an as needed schedule. That's why you see things like "climate control" parts that are no longer available but other items that need constant replacement like DME relays are readily available. Some parts just don't sell enough to maintain production and are in jeopardy of being very hard to get soon.

If I can figure out how to get them off without breaking them, you can have my end caps. For a brown interior, is that ok?

My spare parts come from my warehouse that has a few 944s in various stages of dismantling.

What's the big deal about end caps? I've seen them in the AA catalog. (Yeah, I know. But if you really need them...)

every few months, somebody offers me a junk 944 for like $1000 that I can part out and make serious $$ off of. If only I didn't live in a split-house in conjested West Hartford, and had extra room to store a car!

Hey, any of you CT pelicans want to go in on a little 944 used parts business?!?
