Proper volt meter readings?

Hey guys,
I am wanting to check the proper place for the volt gauge to read...

I would think it should read just above the 1/2 way mark or so to show its charging...
Thanks

Should read about 13.5 volts assuming gauge is reading correctly. Perhaps somewhere in the 14's after starting the engine.

Thanks much Lawrence...
& Outstanding collection of cars you have there, by the way!

Need to use a digital meter reading in tenths at the battery terminals. Who knows what corrosion is between the battery and the dash gauge or the alignment of the gauge.

Thanks! Like SoCal said, you should check the voltage at the battery with a good voltmeter. Occasionally, my gauge is erratic but I don't worry about it anymore because I have checked the voltage at the battery and it is fine even though the gauge was not reading high enough.
