AC question - blocked system?
I have a question about the AC function in my 87 924S, which I converted to 134. It worked for some time, but now won't cool. With the compressor off I show equalized pressure at around 50psi on both high and low sides. When I turn the AC on, the compressor does engage, but pulls a vacuum on the low side (!) while the high side, no surprise, only gets up to around 100psi.
I'm guessing maybe the orifice might be clogged? Certainly seems like there's a clog somewhere. Where is that orifice, can I take it apart and clean it? TIA... |
You have an expansion valve not an orifice. Not sure exactly where yours is in the dash on the 924. Do a search for expansion valve, you will get plenty of threads.

If it's like the 944, it's under the dash...I don't know WHAT they were thinking putting a part that should be replaced occasionally in such a hard to get to place.

Throw some metamucil in the system...should clear up the blockage right quick.
