Aluminum Cluster Rings for Early 944?

I just made another post and got no replies, so I try to get your attention with a different "subject" heading....

I want to buy (ebay) the chrome/aluminum cluster panel rings for my 1983. They only sell rings for the 85 and newer. Is there a size difference in the panel guages of the early 944 and the late 944?

Thanks!!!!

I don't think they're the same. The rings won't fit. But even if they would fit...The early dash has 3 large gauges and the late dash has 2. Are you buying 2 kits?

It'll probably look a little odd with the shape of the early dash with the deep pods.

My 2 cents...

Thoen, there were replies to your other topic.

Maybe we could be more helpful if we see what it is you're trying to do?

I was interested in adding the aluminum rings to my panel. it was probably a passing fancy but then I became interested in the sizes involved. there is a lot of info on the net but the best place for questions (944) is here. thanks for the post.

i won't add the rings or think about it with this new info.

I had no idea as to how many 944 owners there are out there. I see a 944 (924,968) once in a blue moon and I am just 13 miles outside of New York City!!!

Here's an idea...

Try to find a 914-4 tach. There is a guy on the 914club.com BBS named Bleysing that makes BILLET ALUMINUM guage bezels. If you get in contact with him and provide him with specs, he might be able to make some for you...
