Interior Door Handle with Badge, ever seen them?

my car has badges on the interior door handles, they are recessed into the plastic handle itself, i thought they were stock. but when one of the badges fell out i realized it was a plastic insert! weak. in the meantime my curiosity peaked and i searched for new ones on the net, figured i could find the small metal badges that are supposed to be in there. I came up empty handed.

im figuring they must be aftermarket?

have you guys seen these before? any thoughts or ideas about cleaning up the badges or getting new small badge inserts?hopefully metal.

i guess finding replacement badges isnt going to be easy. these are actually pretty worn, they look worse in person. im thinking MAYBE if i find a key chain with the a badge on it, theres a chance it would fit.

im certinly not losing any sleep over it.

theres always a bigger fish to fry

you can buy small crests on ebay... pretty cheap... not sure if they're that size or not though...

I just realized now that 944 interior door handles are different than 924S interior door handles? Mine are sqaure-ish- not rounded like that. I like those better.

Strange.

What is the size of those Kevin. I've seen metal crests for sale in many places. I have also seen stickers about that size. Post the size you are looking for and I'll try to remember all the places I have seen them.

Kyle, the ebay links didnt work, guess those are gone.
Mike, one is a plastic that was stuck on there with a drop of light glue the other feels like paper!

I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for a key chain or something and see if i can fit that piece in there so it doesnt look ghetto.

the PO didnt over do it with any additional logos, as far as i can see these were the only ones 'added'.

Like i said, theres always bigger fish to fry. right now i just hope my balance belt gets here tomorrow so i can knock these belts out with VINMAN tomorrow night. They seem to be lost in fed ex land right now...

grrr.

924S cars have pretty much the same interior as an early 944, the early 944's have the same square handle.

Wow! I have only seen those on one other car that I have worked on!

Anyway, I had to replace one of those a few years back and found a supplier of Porsche lapel pins. They were the exact size to replace those "badges". Once I recieved them, I simply ground down the post on the back and glued them in place.

I will have to dig through a bunch of paperwork to see if I still have the address of the supplier. If I can find it, I will let you know.

Glad the key words helped out. I asked around, and didn't find any at the club. Hopefully you can find what you need now that your options have opened up.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I realize now that those are exactly the size I believe of the ones on my keychains that I got from here at Pelican. They were about 15$ a piece. The crests themselves are EXTREMELY high quality. I am not sure how they are attached to the leather around them, a backplate I believe.

Expensive but again, the crests looked straight from Porsche and the best crests I have seen as far as workmanship, even compared to the actual car crests.
