Ferrari 250GTO style nose vents on a 924..

This may be blasphemy to some, but I was doing some photoshopping and decide to see what this would look like. I work with composites and I am thinking about making a mold and laying one of these up if I can scavenge a nose panel to use to make a mold from...
I call it the 92GTO.
Tell me what you guys think.. would this be good looking on a 924/944?

Err...No.
But if YOU like it, it is your car.

I don't think it would work. The Ferrari 250GTO is a largely "round" car, so the vents in its nose panel are rounded off to compliment the car's shape. The Porsche 924, however, is more angular and wedge-like. Rounded back, sure, but the pointy end is very, well, pointy.

To my eyes, too much of a center of attention. A good design, whether it be a car, a building, or a piece of art, will keep your eyes moving, taking in the entirety of design.

The vents as pictured draw the eyes directly to them, minimizing the design of the car.

Anytime your eyes instantly focus on one aspect of a car, it is a poor design.

Get a 924 Turbo nose and be done with it.

If I could find a junked turbo nose to make molds from I could easily make a few out of carbon fiber. I need to start calling some junkyards... or maybe that place in California is it that is all Porsche salvage..

Whats the benefit of doing this? The turbo guys change nose panels to feed cold air to the intercooler. It just seems to me that you'll just add drag.

Help radiator cooling. Not that I have problems with that at all.

Could be a nice replacement if you nose panel is dented. Again, mine is perfect.

Mainly something unique for a 924. The 250GTO gace way to other front engined v12 Ferraris like the Daytona, and the Daytona shape is supposedly where some idea for the 924 came from.

Also I want to try making a few things with the free oven time when we aren't baking Formula car parts. Over the winter I think I am going to make a mold for a new front bumper. I had fixed it in the pic above in in reality it as a few dings in it.

see the big honkin' air scoop under your license plate? that's more than enough to cool the radiator.

Doesn't seem like you are getting a lot of support on this one Mike.

Dam American mussle. Great Engines but sitting in em is like a mile from the Windshield and tooo sloped plus big nose. I like the Air scoops thoe. And has to be one of the only none-80's cars with pop up head lights. Nice touch El.

Well guess I just saw it differently. The roundness of the 924 (something not found on the 944) always reminded me a little of the early front engined ferraris. I am probably the only one.

Non-80s cars with pop-up lights:
Ferrari 348
Ferrari 355
Ferrari 456
Lamborghini Diablo
Lotus Esprit
Acura NSX
Corvette C4
Corvette C5
Porsche 944S2
Porsche 968
Porsche 928
Mazda RX7
Mazda MX5 (Miata)

I think there were more classy cars with pop up lights built in the 1990s than the 1980s...
