Center Console & Misc Question

I was just wondering what others have done with their center console. Specifically, the cassette holder. This is kind of out of date and I have removed the cassette dividers but it would be nice if there was a little more storage space.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, I was browsing through the Pelican catalog and I noticed that they sell a "pollen filter". I was not aware that the cabin ventilation was filtered. If so, where is the filter located.

Any advice would be great....................Vern

My garage door opener lives in the center armrest, as does the stereo hookup for my iPod (I can control the iPod from the head unit, so the iPod just sits there). It's pretty swanky. :)

Garage door opener and loose change.

what are these "cassettes" that you speak of?

I have change and gas receipts in mine.

change lives in the ash tray... in the arm rest, i have gas receipts, a photograph or two, some other various pieces of paper, a pack of captain black for when I'm out and the mood strikes me, and my cell phone.

I saw on ebay something that sits in the arm rest and turns it into a cup holder at one point..

Dave,

When I open the console, there are plastic dividers for holding cassette tapes. They fold down so the cassettes are kind of dominoed. I removed these dividers so that I have a plain storage spot but it's still really small. I thought that maybe there was an antermarket console that was a little taller to give you more room - but, if not, I'll live with it as is.

yes, I know what cassettes are and I had the same dividers in my arm rest. I removed them.

I did see 1 car where the owner had made some aluminum rings that created "cup" holders. As you can imagine by the depth of the arm rest they were about half an inch high and I cant imagine that they would be very useful.

I am interested in the Ipod idea, I think that could be pretty cool.

Dave, my stereo has a control unit that plugs into the dock connector on the iPod that allows it to charge, play, and be controlled through the head unit. I routed it from the deck into the center console. I just leave the iPod there because I don't have to touch it anymore, not even for scrolling through the library!

I suppose if you had a 1/8" connector for the stereo that would work to, just route it under the carpet, drill a small hole, and you're set.

here's a pic similar to the one i was talking about...
