Question on 944S spark plug wires
I'm about to remove the valve/cam cover to replace the gasket. Do you just pull off the plug boots from the plugs? it looks like you need to loosen the cover prior to pulling the plug wires. Pls clarify.
Thanks! |
I don't own an S but I don't think so. I think that is just the way the caps are built. Plug wires should come off first.
|
Thank you sir!, the caps do look like they are embedded into the cover.

Check out the cross over chain and plastic pressure pad too. Bet there is a big groove in the plastic.
|
Yup, pull them right off first. I use some Robogrip pliers with the protective rubber covers on the jaws and gently wiggle and pull.
If you're replacing the gasket, replace all the seals (4 plug seals and 13 bolt grommets). And search around on "chain tensioner" to see what else you should do and look out for (careful with those bolts - they can break...). |
