timing belt cover issue
I replaced seals, gaskets, belts, water pump and other required parts along with rebuilding balance shafts. I set the timing belt at 40lb and balance belt at 28lb. I removed the cover to recheck and adjust belts after about 2500 miles and noticed that the timing belt is rubbing the inner cover and has worn a small groove in it. Doesn't seem like it is getting any worse now and there is no apparent damage to the belt. Does anyone know why this may have happened. the cover was installed properly along with everything else as far as I can tell. Thanks for any help.
Todd

Hey Todd,
My cover broke at the rear connections to the block and was essentially floating. I am in the process of replacing it with a good used one.

Check the flange on the timing belt tensioning pulley. Should be toward the engine.
