944 exhaust

Well I think it's about time I need to change the muffler on a 87 N/A, it gets louder everyday. Should I stick with a OEM part or is there any other aftermarket exhuast with higher performance for the non-turbo that are worth it?

I would check the entire exhaust system. Might have a cracked exhaust header or a crack in front of the CAT.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

I purchased a used, manifold back system from a fellow Pelican member for $60 and it was in great shape. I like the look of stock.

i'm with speedy, stock looks are good, and the sound is still good as well. remove the catalyitic converter *may not be legal in your area or anywhere* and put a resonator in there and you'll have a slightly more agressive sound with stock looks. on an old '85.5 that i had, the exhaust cracked right in front of the cat as stated before, and i had it welded back together for about $20.

i agree, check the whole system, it is more than likely a crack in the piping, NOT the muffler.
