leftover seals
Finally coming to an end on an '83 rebuild project, only to find that I have a couple of seals that weren't used. These were part of the lower end gasket set.
One is an o-ring the size of a dime, 16mm OD * 14mm ID * 1mm thick and the other is a short tube type seal 12mm OD * 6mm ID * 5mm high. I didn't remove anything that resembles either of these when I dismantled the the lower part of the engine. Also, does anyone know if the early 944s had an oil check valve in the head. Factory manual makes reference to it. I can see where it should be, but don't know if its something internal. Am I able to access this? Any help is appreciated.

The tall one looks like a camshaft seal item 13:

I think the o-ring is for the oil pump drive sleeve.

That crossed my mind but I already acounted for the camshaft seal in the upper end seal/gasket kit and besides it doesn't seem to fit that opening.
I already have the oil pump drive o-ring out of the same kit. This extra o-ring is pretty small, about the size of a dime. I can only think of it being for the newer style oil pressure relief valve, but don't know for sure, since I am still using the old version. Both of these are from the lower end gasket set. Thanks for the replies though, any other ideas? |

I've seen the thicker one before but I can't remember where it went. It's not for the oil pressure relief valve though.
