oil leak onto the exhaust
Hey guys!
cars running well but theres something i want to take a closer look at next time i get greasy. after the car sits for a while, and i go to start it up, if i open the hood i get some oil burn off smoke for about a minute or so. The smoke comes up from the rear of the engine, between the motor and the firewall, today when looking between there with a light it was REALLY hard to see where it was coming from. its defiantly dripping on part of the exhaust cause once thats hot it burns off, and i dont think its much. i know i'll have to get in a little deeper to gather more information for you guys to work on but my initial thoughts were rear cam tower cork seal? any ideas where to start prodding?

Probably the rear cam cover seal as you mentioned. Feel behind the area with your hand to see if oil comes off, or just get a inspection mirror.

I agree, that can be a damaging leak if it gets too bad, so take a look. Good thing is that's pretty easy to fix. The other possibility is the cam tower, but I'm betting Jon is right. Hope all is well Kevin.

Same problem here. I do have a leaking cam seal among others. Finally able to get an appointment at the dealer for everything from the t-belts and water pump to all the front end seals and gaskets. It will be SO nice to not have smoke and the smell of burning oil! Hopefully you have an inexpensive and easy fix! Mine is costing $1050 for all the toys!

I'm doing that work the following weekend; rear cam seal and cam gasket.
