The 944 is back (single solid motor mount)
So after a long winter and a lot of help from ae1969 my 266K mile 944 has a much fresher engine. Along with the LR fuel lines and an A/C delete, we decided to try putting in one solid motor mount to replace the collapsed one on the exhaust side. The reasoning for this is that the driver side mount was still in reasonable shape and I was curious how much vibration the 944 would get with one solid and one OEM mount. The reason for the passenger side failing we figured is because of the heat from the exhaust manifold on the rubber.
Well, there is increased vibration coming through the body. It's very liveable to me though... we'll see what the girlfriend says when we go for a drive. I'm not worried about shaking any bolts loose like people have reported with solid mounts on both sides. There may be some increased wear and tear on the other mount, now that it has to do all the vibration absorption on it's own. When it collapses, I'll put the other solid mount in and a solid tranny mount. I'll post up again if I run into any failures or have any trouble with the setup. In the name of science, Justin
