clutch/ trans problems

just bought a 86 944 and on the drive home the trans started to move back and forth from acceleration to deceleration (felt on the shift lever) then later started to vibrate over 4000 RPM (shift lever) and finally after all that intermittent clutch, very hard to put into gear but would stay running in gear wile stopped, most of the time only two times did the clutch not disengage, Trans wine when moving slowly forward. What are symptoms of a bad torque tube? The car ran great on test drive everything was good. 900 miles later not so good.
