Just looked on my car. It looks like the valve for the heater. The only thing is... on my car this unit is mounted behind my engine and infront of the fire wall. It physically clamps off the heater hose to the passenger cabin. Yours is in front of the hard pipe that runs under your cam housing and mine is after that same hard pipe. maybe your's is in front because of something to do with the "S" engine.

hmmm, i don't think that's it. maybe tho, is that vacuum operated? it just seems kinda flimsy for that but maybe, thx i'll look up that part and see if it's the same
