I think the last posts on this topic were about three years ago. I know Lindsey Racing makes one, but it's pricey and you have to make modifications to the housing cover to properly fit it. At one time, there was even somebody (I forgot who- Italian name) that made an automatically adjusting one for early 924's. Similar mechanism as distributor timing advance. I see plenty of the manually adjustable ones for Hondas and such for under $100 and THAT falls within my $$/HP target. Every little bit adds up.
Anybody have any thoughts, comments, ideas, sources?

There is enough slop in all the cam sprocket and ignition rotor to be able to get, by my estimate, about 5 degrees of advance if you twist the component you want advanced as you tighten down the appropriate bolts.
if you want the cam advanced loosen the cheesehead bolt, twist the cam sprocket counterclockwise by hand, hold it there and tighten down the cheesehead bolt. if you want to advance the timing loosen the bolt for the brass colored part. twist clockwise by hand, hold it there, tighten bolt. Then do the same for the ignition rotor. RickV says they sell offset keys for the keyway which could get you some degrees of advance. Both ideas are a heck of alot cheaper than an adjustable cam sprocket. Speedy

I have seen the ones for the 924, But the only one Im know of for the 944 is the lindsey Racing one. A adjustable cam gear doesnt really add HP, It just makes it so you can move your powerband higher or lower in the RPM range.
If you really want it do it the right way and get the adjustable gear

I forgot about offset keys. Exactly who sells offset keys? You are correct about the minimal HP gain. I would like to be able to move the power band around though. Somebody here once said "...adjustable is nice...".

I def agree it is worth doing, The best thing about the adjustable one is you can tune it to where you like, A key way will just be set there at 5 degrees

for the offset deys you can go to a local NAPA and ask about them I think Dorman makes them. I used to use them to change up cam timing on some of my drag stuff.
remember though you will be seeing 1/2 of what it would be b/c it is on the cam and not crank. I bet you could pick up some low end torque advancing the cam a few degrees.
