one thing that catches my eye is the bumper isn't the same colour as the car (at least it doesn't appear to be).

Getting the car to comply with DOT requirements may cost more than the purchase price.

Just go into something like this with your eyes wide open. Ask lots of questions before bidding.

My thought is that there are enough for sale already in the USA. No need to buy an S2 from overseas.

Jap specs are a little different than the Canadian and American ones.. The S2 i have is a German/Jap Spec. Only thing i noticed is that it has a split back seat. No sun roof. No alarm. No cruise.
I was told the no alarm is cuz the japanese are more honorable.. LOL..
Other than that.. mine came with NO paperwork.. Or no legible paperwork anyways...lol

That car has been on Ebay like 3 times in the last while now.. ive seen it and pondered buying it... there has to be a reason it hasnt sold... Dont get F'd, Be careful...

If a seller wants you to wire him money, stay away. eBay has its security measures in place - PaPal, for example - for a reason. The seller might be on the up and up, but why take the chance?

I have a coworker out west who has looked at a few Japan imported BMW's. Over all the quality is very good due to the low miles. if the car is 15 years or older its easy to bring into Canada but in the US its a little different. I wouldnt rule out looking at a car from Japan but I would only consider a car that is already in the US or Canada. I saw a Japan import S2 also without sunroof and the condition was very good. Having no records you have to assume that the timingbelt, water pump and cam chain tensioner need to be done.

why would someone put so much stickers on it

I think that if the owner didn`t fix the faulty water temp gauge, wich is the most important gauge on the dash, there might be some not so obvious things wrong too.

Nice looking car but... IMHO by the time you pay for shipping and getting it passed DOT the cost will be more than it is worth. That is not even taking into account any little surprise repairs you will find in a unknown car.

In terms of money... In addition to the auto cost, their cost of shipping is $1650.00. I have yet to see an american conversion for less than $2000.00 (if you can find someone to correctly convert a Porsche).

Additionally, look at the E-BAY seller comments . That will tell you something about the seller. I didn't see anything that would cause me to send money before I personally inspected the vehicle.

I would be VERY careful with this transaction.

That would be a great deal in my opinion for this car. However, this listing does look rather fishy. I'd be very cautions on buying this just for fear it might be a scam.
