a few questions
 

Ok, ive got a few question about my 1985.5 944. First off, the tach in my car works sometimes and other times it doesnt. When we first bought it, it didnt work. Then one day driving down a bumpy road it just decided to start working. Well, then when I shut it off it hasnt worked since. Im just wondering if this is a common problem or will I have to replace the tach? Second question, the passenger door is very hard to open. It has gotten worse since I bought it too. When I squeeze the handle, there is very very little resistance so I have to squeeze quite hard to get the door to open, sometimes I just have to open it from the inside. What could be causing this. Lastly, my heater is constantly running. And in south georgia in the middle of summer thats not a good thing. Its 102 degrees today. So thats got to be fixed. I have pulled the plastic cover off the thermostat control, and it doesnt seem to be moving anything at all when I move the slider left or right. Any help at all with this is appreciated. I had the same handle problems. you should put it apart, oil it and then put it back and adjust it so it opens as smooth as it should.

the heater problem could be disconnected hot/cold knob..

for the tach problem you should take it out and first check the back of it and the connectors. The problem could be the corroded ground pins. I read somewhwere that cleaning of these pins sometimes solves strange instrument problems. if that doensn`t help, get another cluster.

or the imfamous heater clip. I don't have one on my car since it's an early model, but I've heard bad things about it.
