Question oil pressure (gauge?) problems!?

The oil pressure gauge on my 944 S has always stayed buried past 5 bar whenever I drive it, and occasionally after a long time of driving, it will kick down and start functioning. I just rebuit my oil pressure relief valve, and ran my car for about a day, and the needle on the oil gauge is still pinned to the max @ idle, but the low level red warning light is also on about half brightness. If I rev the motor, the light decreases to about 1/4 brightness. It is doing this when the engine is warmed up, and when it is cold. My engine is also staying really hot for a long time-- a couple hours after shutting it off in the garage. I tried switching the wires on the oil pressure sender, and still the same readings-- any ideas, anyone?

Check and clean the connectors at the rear of the instruments. Sounds like you have a connector that gennerally does not have contact, oil pressure max, but from time to time do flow current.

Use the opportunity to change the bulbs.

the connections at the oil pressure sender may be reversed.
