Air Bag Light!!!

I just mounted a Momo steering wheel in my 93 968 and can't get the airbag lights(air bag and master warning) to go out. Tried disconnecting battery, plugging in the airbag and starting car with airbag and pulling the instrument fuse for 30 sec as described in manual. Still can't get the damn lights to reset! Any help appreciated. Drive fast, have fun!

With out knowing for sure what car you have this may be wrong but; you need the "hammer" to turn it off (only way), you will also need to put a resister in the Air Bag circuit to stop it happening (not sure the specs on that but if you search all the forums you should find the procedure)

hey, thanks. but could you tell me what "hammer" you're referring to. I have a good assortment of B F H's in the garage... resistance of airbag squib is @ 1 ohm. Picked up a large 1 ohm resistor at rad shak. Car is a 93 968.

the Hammer is the Data tool from porsche for reading codes (can't remember the real name, everyone just says hammer). Try searching on 968.net, 968forums.com and Rennlist.com. There is also clubstuttgart.com but not sure if this info made it there yet. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

BTW, 968s are the best

OK, I found it here "http://www.968forums.com/index.php?showtopic=122" but you have to be a registered user to get at it. The short is that it’s 3ohm resister and goes in the orange connector under the wheel where the airbag plugged in.
As for the light; no one has come up with a way to turn it off without the diagnostic tool "hammer”, that will require a trip to the service shop/dealer.

Hope this helps

thanks for the info. I went to 968forums and found mostly spam under all the different headings, something wierd going on there... I checked Pelican to see if they had a reset tool but didn't find one. Does anyone know where I can get one??? Thanks, Allan

The tool (if you can find one) is about $1000 US. They sometimes show up on ebay (but rarely). As for the spam on the site, sounds like you logged on to 968.net (that site has been abandoned by the owner and is no longer used by most) the site I found the info on is http://www.968forums.com/
