Need Help with Electric Seats

I searched*
Just bought a 944 I cannot fit into the PO switched the standard seats for electrical. The seat will only move forward and back 2inches I do not see anything lodged or blocking the seat from moving back further. The cable to the motor does pop out easily. How do I manually crank the motor?

Thx in advance.

My '88 has power seats but the switches only control tilt. To move the seats forward and back is still a manual function using the levers in front of the seats.

My 968 has a small gearbox under the very front of the seat in the cable run from the motor to the gear that drives the seat forward and back on the rails. Hard to describe but it faces forward, and it has a hex socket in it, if you put an allen key (6mm IIRC) in there you can turn it - its a long process cos it is geared down, so turns a lot to move the seat a little. Does the motor still want to run when the seat meets its limits? If so sounds like something in the rail is stopping the free movement. If you have enough movement to still see the 4 bolts holding the seat in might be worth taking it out and having a good look.

Yeah thats the problem. the center of the seat actually hits the floor board even with the seat base raised all the way... I can get to the back 2 but not front 2.. Sadly I am left with the option of sawzawing the seat off the rails. Time to put some corbeaus in

Sawzall? Figure out how they got the seats in there in the first place. If they are bolted in, they can be unbolted.

Sure they can be unbolted, but if the seat movement doesn't allow you to reveal the boltheads then you are stuck....

Exactly.. So depressing. I am going to try and see what I can do as far as taking all the padding out and only cutting metal, or if I can get the bottom cushon off I am sure I can un-jam whats hitting the floor board.

OK, unbolt the back two bolts you CAN get to. Jack or shim up the rear of the seat for clearance. Now you should be able to manually spin the seat mechanism without it touching the floor board...

...or am I missing something here?
