Droping a S2 engine in a '84 944

Hey I was wondering if there was extensive modifications to be done to have this work...

Would I have to have some fuel line/pump, tranny, transaxel, work done ? What exactly would it imply?

Are the engine mounts differant ?? What exacly would I be looking at?

Let me know if you need any pics or descriptions of my S2. You'll like the power this thing produces.

I would also like to know this, and will it work in a 924 S? I think thats the same motor and mounts right? Is there any other easy to swap american or japanese motors? Ive seen these cars with v8s before but how does that work out with the rear transaxle?

The swap will work the same into a 924S. You have the choice of both a S2 and a 968 engine.

The transaxle should be on the list of casualties and i would defenetley set aside the money to at the least buy a 951 gearbox eventually (easier to find than a S2 box).

Ive never seen a Japanese engine installed but a RB26TT powered 944 would be quiet cool. There are plenty of V8 swaps running around, check out Renegade Hybrids for custom kits.

Ok so if I could get my hands on a S2 Engine and transaxle I should definately get the wholething ?

Transaxle is both tanny and axle right ? lol

What should I look for when shopping for an S2 engine and tranny? What questions should I ask the seler and such? Are there major defects or anything with the 88 S2s ? The thing has under 90kmiles on it, s would it be a good thing ?

Look for the same thing as if you were buying a whole running car. Mileage, leak down #'s...etc. The big problem is if the engine is already out of the car you are taking the guys word for it.

No major 'defects' in the S2 engine. You do need to be mindful of the cam drive chain tensioner which needs to be replaced at specific intervals, just like the timing belt.

Also there was no '88 S2..only an '88 S, 16v 2.5L, completley different to the 3.0L.

If you can get the S2 transaxle with it, go for it. Your stock 8v n/a transmission will work with the S2 engine, but i wouldnt expect it to last forever. Get everything you can with the engine aswell... DME, Ignition module, wire harness and flywheel.

Yes you will need the exhaust, full exhaust actually unless you wanted to make something work. The tubing is a larger diameter.

Hey are there some supercharger kits out there for the S2 ?? What kind of power could you get out of it with a Supercharger without changeing the internals ?
