Possible bent impeller...WP?
Well after a few laps I rechecked the tensions after a cool down and fired it up and noticed the cam belt vibrates. The portion is the section that runs over the WP or the lower section of the belt, not the tension section. Is it possible the impeller is bent or is this wobble normal?
Oh and I really need a cam cover set. The back portion is shot and makes timing the top BS a PITA as it is loose, move it back a bit and the mark is slightly off so I had better get a new so I can be more comfy the timing is spot on. I have 2- 944 interior top window pillar covers(black) and a set of manifolds(cast) to barter or a cam housing(needs cam follower bores honed) or a head that needs machining and a additional HG to make the difference up. Anyone want to make a trade?! tia! Dal |
How old is your water pump?
I would think that worn bearings would be more common than a bent impeller (though it is possible). I also have to wonder why the impeller would be bent? Contact with the housing due to worn bearings? |
I would agree w/you Chris on that. It could get tweeked by a pry bar being used to compress the spring tensioner but having said that I am very mindful of the WP pulley so I try not to, but I may have. But being it is thw WP I think I am going to just replace it to be safe. I will have to dig out the records to see age of the WP but I can say it at least 7 years or better.

I've never seen a bent or broken impeller. Yet. Has to be pretty rare. I have seen impellers that were completely corroded away on more than one occasion...OK, twice.
