Shift Lever Circlip
I just got a shift lever kit from 944online.com. I was installing it in the dark, and didn't realize that the included washer had pushed the shift rod out to the point where the indent for the circlip was partially covered. It wasn't going on, so I squeezed it with a pair of pliers... and it broke.
Anybody know if these are a common thing that I can find at a local parts store? Or is there a similar type of clip that will work for me? I'm hoping I don't have to order one and wait around for it to arrive... I'd have this car back on the road by now if I had a 944 shop next door.

They are 50 cents from Porsche. I know I just got a replacement for the one I lost and have been using a paper clip for some time.

I did the same thing. Then we broke the old one trying to re-use it.
I found an assortment of circlips at Ace hardware and bought one (actually a handful!) that worked great.

I found 5/16" size clips for $0.25 at a local hardware store called the glass barn. It's good to know that next time I can get it just about anywhere.

I just did mine and the clip shot out of the pliers and landed in side of the seat and I could not get to it...same deal I found one at the parts store. Once again I must add...I highly recommend taking duct tape and wrapping that entire assembly a few times as tight as you can...then put the boot back on...keeps that sloppy setup really tight and feels better....[B]come on guys, its not like you can see it
