Cloudy Cab Window

Hi all,

I'm looking at a cab with a cloudy window. The rest of the top is like new. I have heard that it is 'an easy fix' to replace the window but I haven't talked with anyone who has actually done it. Thanks for your reply if you know where to go (upholstery, marine...?), how much it costs and how successful it can be.

just for grins, try furniture polish on the cloudy window, both sides.

Here's the deal. A cloudy plastic window cannot be "cleaned" or restored. Only replaced.

The amount of labor to replace the rear window on a 944 or 968 cab is almost as much as to replace the entire top, which consists of 2 sections.

If your top is "like new," then go ahead and have the rear window replaced only. Otherwise, I would have the whole top replaced. A good upholstery place will make it look perfect. Should cost in the neighborhood of US$600-800 plus the cost of the new top or window section.

The best tops for these cars are made by Robbins in CA.

before you run out and buy a new top.........

i've "restored" plenty of the back windows that were brown and fully glazed

go to a plastics shop and get a bottle of Novus - it comes in three grades (1,2, and 3) - the higher the number the more abrasive - #2 usually does it, but i have had to use #3 on really bad ones - most effective using a dual action buffer, but can be done by hand

awesome feedback guys. Thank you! The PPI turned up some other issues so not sure I will follow through. If I do, I will let you know. If there is anyone else with more keep em coming just in case!

Thanks!

I guess it depends on what he means by "cloudy." The "cloudy" plastic window on my 944S2 cab when I bought it was like parchment paper. No amount of Novus would've brought it back.

I hope his "cloudy" window is like the "glazed" ones you're referring to.

+1 on the Novus products. I've restored some pretty bad Miata windows using the stepped grades. They really do work well. They are even better on dull faded taillight lenses.
