Without spending a LOT of money, Fuchs are probably the lightest wheels you are going to find. You should be happy to have them.

I'll take the fuchs off your hands if you really don't want them!

If you REALLY want a more aggressive look (keep in mind, you will be increasing unsprug weight, which has an effect on the car's power-to-weight ratio that is exponential compared to the weight on the "inside" of the car's suspension), you should be able to sell off your Fuchs for enough money to buy just about anything you want. Real Fuchs typically go for well over $1000 on eBay, if they are in good condition. They are VERY desirable in the Porsche community.

Trust me, I know of what I speak

Your rear 8" Fuchs are highly prized by the early 911 crowd, as they are the only 8" Fuchs that will fit the front of a 911.

Not a bad idea to step up to 17" wheels for the better tire choices available today. Any newer factory wheels will require spacers, since they will be late-offset. The other option is to go with an aftermarket wheel like Fikse. Pricey, but light, strong, and they can custom build whatever size you want.

I agree, overall the Fuchs are the best wheel you will get for the car I would say. If you are just going for looks, which you said you are mainly, there may be a few options for you. You can find after market wheels that fit right on. You may also want to look at getting some other Porsche factory wheels. I personally like the Cup wheels that where on the 993's... They are simple and look nice, you can also find a good set for probably around $800. Im not sure about spacers on your car (I have an early 944, not sure if the offsets are the same). I Personally would think a nice set of cup wheels painted black with your silver car would look sharp, but thats just me. You can also find cup wheel replicas that are a direct fit (*************** has some) and will cost you about $1000 for the wheels.

I will get in line for the Fuchs, as well, should you choose to change Personally, I find the Fuchs look quite aggressive (compared to my 16" phone dials) and am looking for a set for my "new" 1986.

On that note has anyone had any experience with the replica Fuchs that I see on ebay regularly? I have had experiences in the past with replicas where they are heavy (fully expected) and brutally hard to balance and keep balanced?

They are cast wheels, not forged. Heavier, and not as strong. They are fine for putzing around town, but they are not up to track duty with R-compound tires.

My local PCA region prohibits them on DE days.

The Fuchs wheel was designed to be forged. The thickness of the spokes is not adequate with a cast wheel.

Rota wheels has just come out with a 17" version of a cast Fuchs wheel, to take advantage of the better tire selection. While I like the idea, I will wait a while and see if they hold up well over the long haul.

Get some 9" 930 Fuchs for the rear and run your 8" 951 Fuchs up front. That's a nice, aggressive, old-school look.
