New member needs help

Hello,

I have been visiting Pelican Parts for a while now and have finally decided to join in. I have owned my 86 951 for about a year and a half. I purchased it from a specialty dealership in Benicia, Ca. where I also took it for service. They had a factory trained mechanic as well as a loaner car to use while they serviced your car. I had scheduled some suspension work to be done but unfortunately I was out of work for a while and when I went back for service everything was gone. The mechanic, the dealership, nothing but an empty building. Now I am in need of a new mechanic. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in my area? I live in the East Bay here in Northern California. I would attempt the repairs myself but if I run into problems won’t have a way to get to work. Thanks for your help.

You might try contacting your local Porsche Club of America. I have gotten tremendous advice from my club in Fresno. Even though my club is mostly 911's & Boxters, many of the guys have owned 944's in the past.

p.s. welcome to the board. This group has many experts and I couldn't do without.

Welcome to the board. members here are great about answering questions you may have. There are alot of members in the CA area so surely somebody knows the scoop on a shop in your area.

Welcome to the site. This site has been the best in helping me work on my 944. Never thought I would be able to, but due to the Parts diagrams and the knowlage these guys have, has saved me a lot of time and money. Good luck with everything!
